Collaboration: Technical Drawings – Grade 5

Standard

Part of the 5th grade classroom curriculum is a unit that focuses on simple engineering.   During one lesson in this extensive unit students constructed a moving vehicle, and then created a two-view technical drawing of that moving vehicle.

This lesson is an important part of the design process, but can be a challenge because of the focus of observation drawings.  To support this lesson, I visited Room 16 and offered my support.

Before getting started, I reviewed concepts we’ve been working on in art, specifically proportion, so students could accurately draw the different components of the vehicle.

It was a treat to be able to co-teach.  Thanks Mrs. Kelley for the chance to work with you and your students!
