Painting Inspired by Vasily Kandinsky’s Concentric Circles – Grade 1

Standard

First graders have started their final painting project, inspired by the Russian artist Vasily Kandinsky.  For this painting, we took inspiration from Kandinsky’s color study: Concentric Circles.

Students looked at the painting, noticing the shapes, and colors Kandinsky used. First graders in room 4 thought it would be interesting to create their own work, using different geometric shapes, instead of circles.  I hadn’t even thought of that idea, so I happily shared it with room 3 when they started their painting.

Check out students in room 3 & 4 working on their paintings.  Also, stay tuned for photos of the finished work here, and on the paintings display at Conant.
