Shape Collage – Moving Vehicles – Grade K

Standard
In kindergarten, we’ve been working on learning about the elements of art.  As part of our shape studies, students explored tempera cakes to create the painted paper that would turn into their moving vehicles.  They also learned about and created a collage, using a variety of shapes to make a moving vehicle.  I was inspired by this lesson from Deep Space Sparkle.

When students finished their mixed media collage, they were able to look through the books that helped inspired the variety of moving vehicles they illustrated.  If you get a chance to visit Conant, be sure to check these out in the library.  You’ll get a treat and get to read the sentences I scribed for their pieces.  It’s fun to see where they imagined the vehicles going, and what a number of the vehicles were carrying!
