Invented Buildings – Grade 2

Standard
Room 7

After working on their observation drawings of buildings and houses in Acton, we created our own invented house/building.  Second grade artists were reminded to use what their learned in their observation drawings.  They started with the large shapes and details first, and then filled in their buildings with the smaller shapes and details to finish them.  After they were drawn in pencil, second graders outlined them in sharpie, and painted them with watercolor paint.

I shared some watercolor tips and techniques, which helped them fill in the small areas, and blend colors right on the watercolor paper.

I really love the way these turned out, and it was interesting to hear about their buildings, and all the original details they added, which they shared with a partner during our pair-share.
