Origami Bird Sculptures – Grade 1


In conjunction with the first grade Japan unit, in art we’ve made stamps, which are going to be used to create stamped ‘kimono’s’ in the classroom. In art, these stamps were also used to create our own origami paper. 

Origami is the art or process, originating in Japan, of folding paper into forms representing flowers, bird, and other things.    

During the next three weeks, room 3 and 6 will be making other origami ‘sculptures’. Room 4 will be making these soon, they are just a little behind due to all the Monday holidays! 

These pecking birds were their first try at origami in art, and everyone did a great job.  Check out the videos below to see the pecking birds in action.
