Standard

Second grade artists in Room 6 have been working diligently on their Oaxacan inspired animal sculptures, which means they are almost finished and ready to be displayed! Β

First the second graders learned a way to sculpt the clay that would ensure a sturdy sculpture.Β  Then they viewed a number of Oaxacan wood carvings from Mexico, to get their inspiration going. Β

Oaxacan wood carvings are typically animals that are painted in bright colorings, with fantastic patterns and designs.Β  You can see in these photos that Room 6 really understood that.Β

Stay tuned for updated photos when these beauties are finished so you can really admire all the little details!
