Second grade artists in Room 6 have been working diligently on their Oaxacan inspired animal sculptures, which means they are almost finished and ready to be displayed!
First the second graders learned a way to sculpt the clay that would ensure a sturdy sculpture. Then they viewed a number of Oaxacan wood carvings from Mexico, to get their inspiration going.
Oaxacan wood carvings are typically animals that are painted in bright colorings, with fantastic patterns and designs. You can see in these photos that Room 6 really understood that.
Stay tuned for updated photos when these beauties are finished so you can really admire all the little details!
